What Is the CBR Tussentijdse Toets?

The tussentijdse toets is a training assessment: real traffic, an examiner and the same kind of driving tasks — but no pass or fail result.

What you actually get

The useful part is the feedback. The examiner tells you what went well and what still needs work, and you receive the advice afterwards. That matters if your current feedback is basically “kijkgedrag” and “snelheid” and you are still wondering what to practise on Tuesday.

There can be one bonus

If the special manoeuvres are performed well enough during the toets, you can receive an exemption for them at your next practical exam. The exemption does not remove any other requirement of the later exam, and the applicable conditions must be confirmed with your school.

The exemption applies to the first following practical exam, not indefinitely.

When it makes sense

If you already know exactly what needs fixing, extra lessons may be a better use of the money. If you are still getting vague feedback and want an independent assessment while there is time to change your driving, the toets can be useful.

The point is not to collect another CBR appointment. It is to leave with something specific enough to train.

1. Is there a slot at my centre, and when?
2. What is the all-in price including car and instructor?
3. Which problems do I want the examiner to look at?

The 2026 CBR base fee is €143.50; your school may add car, instructor and administration charges. Verify the current fee before paying.

Current availability (October 2026)

CBR says the interim test returned to all exam centres from 30 March 2026. Your school books it, and you must be at least 16½ and have passed theory. Ask the school to check the current calendar. See current CBR interim-test information.
