Visual explanation · Zebra crossing

One person clearing is not the whole crossing

Question recap: A van still hides one zebra approach after the first pedestrian clears.

Correct answer

Check both sides before you drive over the stripes.

Why this is correct

The pedestrian you saw first is only one part of the crossing. A person on the hidden side may be about to step onto it.

Stay ready to stop before the stripes. Improve your view only as the layout safely allows; do not occupy the crossing just to see around the van.
