Visual explanation · Moving off

Checks can become old while you wait

Question recap: You wait after checking to pull away and the road ahead clears.

Correct answer

Check around the car again before you pull away.

Why this is correct

An empty road ahead does not show what is beside or behind the car. The passing vehicle may also have hidden another road user.

Keep the parked position while checking the relevant surroundings. Signal at the appropriate time and move off only without hindering others.
